Things to do in Kilkenny for Kids

Mount Brandon offer lots of things to see and do for families

Enjoy Kilkenny

Not only can you let your children run free here at Mount Brandon Cottages, where there are oodles of safe space, but there is a fantastic playground at the Fairgreen in Graiguenamanagh. From zip wires to swings and much, much more, this playground has loads to offer and children love this place.

How about a game of table tennis? We have an outdoor table tennis table at your disposal.

And if your children like animals, well, let us introduce them to country life with sheep next door as well as our four-legged friends: Boomer and Dusty, our two resident dogs are always good for a game of fetch (and they don’t really mind if the ball barely moves).

Should it be too wet to play outside or your kids simply want to be creative, why not book a pottery class for them??? Mount Brandon Pottery School is literally a spit away from the cottages. You can enjoy some “kid-free” time and the kids can learn a new skill. But do not feel that pottery is only for children, you are more than welcome to join the class yourselves!

During the summer months, there are lifeguards on duty at the Barrow and swimming in the river is a very popular local pastime.

Take the children on a geo-caching tour around the town. Pssst, one cache is hidden near Freney’s Chair on the tow path towards St. Mullins. There are hours of fun to be had!!!

Horseriding, cycling or kayaking is offered nearby and we will happily put you in touch with the activity providers!

Fire up the BBQ and have your food al fresco style or pack a picnic and go for a walk along the Barrow into beautiful Silaire Wood.
Spot an otter, the resident heron or a kingfisher and learn things you perhaps never knew about the fascinating local flora and fauna.

If you want to go out for a romantic meal (just the two of you) we will put you in touch with a babysitter.
